Mace in Dickson Bio:
Every now and then a band comes along that connects with you the minute you hear them. A band that combines a ton of influences that creates a sound that is totally original and yet very familiar. A band with a bare-fisted electrifying approach that is so honest it stuns you. Mace in Dickson is that band.
This band is made up from a group of local talents, with a simple mission:
Play great songs, play them extremely well and have a great time doing it.
Mace in Dickson is:
“Mace” Dave Maciak on vocals/guitars.
"Finko" Brian Sarafinko on bass/vocals
Danny Williams on Hammond organ, piano, sax, and vocals.
Bill Baracaia on drums.
Carl Breese on guitar/vocals.
Also featuring Sarah Jane Williams on harmony vocals/flute.
The roots of this band run deep in the local music scene, and its members are well respected, as top local musicians. It’s a diverse group, spanning nearly 4 decades in age differences, with musical influences from Beck to Bach. The band blurs lines between genres; their shows features the energy of Rock, the sensibility of Country, and the vocal harmonies of R&B. While giving a nod to the past, Mace in Dickson puts a new twist on each song they play, making it their own. The song list consist of a wide variety of tunes but never gets too far away from the rootsy southern style rock that the band is known for. Top notch guitar playing, three and four part harmonies and a killer rhythm section highlight the bands sound. At a Mace in Dickson show you could see any combination of people; college kids, two-stepper, bikers, metal-heads, red-necks, and average folks all mingling in unison and finding something in the band that they can latch onto and call their own. The band has a loyal and growing local following, and a large emailing list that keeps fans up to date on where the band is playing. Armed with a full on rock show and some intimate acoustic tunes, Mace in Dickson has no trouble finding musical kinship with any listener.
The first time people see this band they say, “This has got to be the best unknown band in NEPA!" That may or may not be true, but why don't you judge for yourself.
So jump in, let your hair down and enjoy the ride…
A Little Mace in Dickson History:
The Mace in Dickson Band started back in 1990, with four guys playing southern and classic rock tunes in the Maciak family's garage. The original member’s were:
“Mace” Dave Maciak, guitar & vocals
Guy DeAngelo, drums & vocals
Drew Micco, bass guitar
Dave Wilk, guitar.
When the band was formed it was without a name for a while. Finally the band settled on the name “Mace in Dickson” after Mace and Dickson City where he was going to school. After a few years Dave Wilk left the band, and was replaced by Sam Gabriel, during this time the band continued to play, write, and recorded a CD of original songs. In 1994 bass player Drew Micco left the band, and was replaced by Brian a.k.a. “Finko”. Later that year Sam Gabriel left, and for short time the band played with Giles Davis before he moved on to play with George Wesley. The band then decided to continue on as a three piece, under the name Zilch, but would still occasionally play gigs with Wade Rose and Zero, under the Mace in Dickson name. During this time Mace began playing with the band Lost Weekend, while playing in Mace in Dickson/Zilch. In 1997 Guy DeAngelo ( a.k.a Wang ) left the band and began playing with Tin Pan Alley. It was at this time that Mace and Finko began playing gigs with drummer, Bill Baracaia and singer/guitar player Carl Breese, from Lost Weekend, and called it Ransom. After a while the band returned to using the Mace in Dickson name. In the summer of 2002 Danny Williams was added on Hammond organ and piano. During this time Sarah Jane Williams, Dan's daughter began sitting in with the band singing harmony and playing flute and still does today. In 2008 Carl Breese left the band to play with his daughters band Cadbury Lane, and continues to play with Old Friends band. In 2010 Carl began playing with Mace in Dickson again and is part of the current lineup.
